remember when tom binns used to make affordable jewelry? now a media darling, tom binns prices are hardly for the fainthearted.

Designer Bio:

Born in Belfast, Ireland, Tom Binns graduated from Middlesex Polytechnic in 1981 with a BA in jewellery design, obtaining all the necessary skills to make real pieces. With the influence of the Dada movement, Tom went on his own revolutionary way creating his collection of ‘object trouves.’ Tom is the pioneer of design alchemy where anything becomes possible. He can find something and making it an icon. He may treat diamonds with remarkable negligence and then hold a piece of beach glass with great nobility. His poetic sense, combined with his anarchic wit and caustic humor has been the essence of his spirit. ‘You are not dealing with reason, you are dealing with attitude.’ His art is feminine, anti-conformist and elegant. It was his collaboration with Vivienne Westwood and Malcolm McClaren, starting with The Punk Couture that created the perfect marriage for Tom’s Dada embrace. Tom Binns is in his element as adornment has become the focus of fashion. ‘Jewelry is always a treasure, and though it may not be made of gold and diamonds, it should still have that sentiment.

CHERRY loves him, but one thing designers always miss, is that jewelry should be affordable too. especially costume!

the necklaces are stunning in that it appeals to the aesthetic. he does lopsided glamour with excellence. you could call this over the top, but there is an increasing trend of wearing the everyday plain, with a stunning piece of jewelry. thus you take evening glamour and work it into everyday cool. alas, prices are really too steep for the average struggling you and me. tom, mr. binns, if you’re out there, hear cherry cry: please design something affordable!

REBECCA MINKOFF BAGS, and now accessories too:

this is the morning after mini, the most classic design of morning after in a mini shape. i have a morning after mini myself and am trying to justify having more than one of the same bag, in different colours…but i LOVE them, i dont carry hobos because you never find anything and they have no structure. i dont carry bags without studded feet because i believe what’s loved should be worn. you would never enjoy your bag if you didnt have free rein to use it without stressing over wear and tear. I AM BUYING THIS!

this is rebecca minkoff’s bio off her webpage:

Born in San Diego, California, Rebecca’s first love was the art of design and began sewing at the age of 8. Although Rebecca’s handbags have been a hit among the stars and women all around the world, she began designing clothing at the age of 18. She launched her clothing line in 2001, but it wasn’t until her good friend and actress Jenna Elfman asked her to design a handbag for her next movie that the ‘Morning After’ bag was born.

my obsession doesnt stop with bags, i am also lusting after RM’s accessories, but cherry has her controls and will only go get that bag tonight!

Yet another accessory brand to die for:

CC SKYE, shot to fame with their double wrap leather through chain bracelets. CSL myself is a guilty owner of 2….in different colours okay, so it’s not as bad as having both in the same colour…

1. DECO HINGE

2. DOUBLE WRAP LEATHER SCREW BRACELET

3. BLOSSOM RING

1. TRIPLE COBRA BANGLES

2. IZZIE PLATE BRACELET

3. CRYSTAL ANGEL WING NECKLACE

totally wrist-candy and drool worthy and biker rock chic cool. prices are again, steep. but not so steep that it requires more than 1 month’s savings. keep our cherries in our pockets we must! well, celebrity sightings aside, this is one brand you can count on to bring you wearable costume jewelry with good design elements, made properly with quality materials, unlike your wear-a-few-times&discard options which are really proof of you get what you pay.

as much as she looks really frumpy here, i love how she has the bracelet on in a devil-may-care, i-havent-washed-my-hair kind of look…so what if you dont wash your hair? i wash mine only once a day, sometimes once every 2 days too…it really helps keep my tips moisturised so i do feel the unwashed hair look.

these are some names to know that are as much of a brand as LV, or Prada, or Chanel. the difference is you’re not going to be bumping into someone on the streets of singapore carrying that same bag, or wearing that same bangle with the frequency of someone carrying an LV monogram speedy. however, that being said, i love my monograms and that’s the speedy and palermo for me….however, just remember, you could be in the know and spot trends and read all the latest designer updates for ideas. these ideas you need to take them and internalise them, morph them into your look and your style. dont let your accessories and clothes own you. you should OWN them. because really, you do! you paid for them, didnt you.
